Federal Government Funding for Students through CARES Act
The federal government has made funds available to colleges and universities under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. A portion of these funds are to provide emergency grants to currently-enrolled degree- or certificate-seeking students to assist with COVID-19 related disruptions to their education and to address basic needs such as food, housing, course materials, child care, and health care as students work to complete their studies. Middlesex County College plans to issue the funds via grants in three waves – the majority of the funds to students enrolled for the Spring semester, and the rest to students enrolled for Summer sessions and the Fall semester, later this year.
Our aim is to assist as many eligible students as possible, focusing in particular on those students who are in greatest need. Students must apply to be considered for a grant, and grants will be awarded on a rolling basis. Students will be notified via email about the grant application and eligibility process, and additional updates on this process will be posted here.
